Connect your number

Connect your WhatsApp Business number through Meta's official flow. The account and the number stay yours.

On this page

Grostify is an official Meta Tech Provider. You connect your number with Embedded Signup, Meta's own popup, without copying tokens or creating System Users. The business portfolio, the WhatsApp Business account and the number stay in your name, and you can disconnect at any time.

Before you start

  • A verified email on your Connect user. Without it the connect button does not appear.
  • A Facebook or Meta Business account to sign in to the popup.
  • A phone number for WhatsApp, either the one you already use in the WhatsApp Business app or a new one.

Any member of the account can connect a number.

Choose how to connect

OptionWhen to use it
I already use WhatsApp Business on my phoneYou keep replying from your phone and Connect sees those messages too. You need the WhatsApp Business app 2.24.17 or later, and to open it at least every 14 days.
Use a new numberA number that is not on any WhatsApp app. It will only work through Connect.

Note

When you connect the number you already use in the app, your chat history and your phone's contacts are not imported into Connect. Only new messages arrive.

Connect

  1. In the dashboard, open Connect WhatsApp.
  2. Choose an option. Meta's popup opens.
  3. Sign in, pick or create your business portfolio and your WhatsApp Business account, and verify the number.
  4. Grant permissions to Grostify's app.

Connect exchanges Meta's code for a business token on the server. The token is stored encrypted and never returns to the browser. The number then shows up in Numbers and inbox, with its status at Meta.

A new number is registered in the WhatsApp Cloud API with a 6 digit PIN. If the registration fails, you can retry it from the numbers page with Register.

Add your payment method in Meta

Meta bills messages directly to your company. Without a card assigned to your WhatsApp Business account, Meta rejects the sends.

  1. In Meta, open Billing & payments.
  2. Go to the WhatsApp Business accounts tab.
  3. Click Add payment method on your account.

The card of your ad accounts does not cover WhatsApp until you assign it there. Meta only accepts Visa or Mastercard. See WhatsApp costs.

Number status

The number page shows what Meta reports, refreshed every 10 minutes or with Refresh status.

RowWhat it tells you
Sending messagesCan send, sends with limits, or cannot send.
Display nameApproved, in use pending approval, in review, declined or expired.
QualityGood, medium, low or no data.
Messaging limitHow many different customers a day you can start conversations with: 250, 1,000, 2,000, 10,000, 100,000 or unlimited.
Payment to MetaOK once a template is delivered, or a payment problem if Meta rejected a send for that reason.

Under What Meta says you see Meta's own explanations and codes. If your business has not passed Meta's business verification (code 141010), the messaging limit stays low until it does.

If Meta disconnects the number

Meta can take a number off the API. The dashboard shows a notice for 30 days with the reason:

ReasonWhat happened
Primary inactivityThe main phone did not open the WhatsApp Business app for about 14 days.
Companion inactivityA linked device was inactive for about 30 days.
Account disconnectedThe WhatsApp account was deleted or Meta disconnected it.
Business downgradeThe number was registered in the regular WhatsApp app.
Change numberThe business changed its number.
User re-registeredThe number was registered again on another phone.

Use Connect again to restore it.

Disconnect

Disconnect on the numbers page stops Grostify's app from receiving events from your account and deletes from Connect the messages, templates, numbers and accounts of that connection. The stored token is erased.

Warning

Disconnecting deletes the conversations stored in Connect right away and does not ask for confirmation. Your WhatsApp account and number stay yours in Meta.
