Verify your domain
Prove the domain of your API is yours with a DNS TXT record or a file over HTTPS. Until then, Connect does not call your API.
On this page
Connect only calls the host of your API base URL, and only after you prove it is yours. This keeps a tool from being pointed at someone else's server.
Two ways to verify
Your token is on the Domain step of the integration. It is fixed for each integration. Pick the method that suits you, set it up and click Check now. Connect checks the DNS record first and then the file.
DNS TXT record
Add a TXT record on the exact host of your API, prefixed with _grostify-connect:
Type: TXTName: _grostify-connect.api.acme.comValue: grostify-connect-verification=<your token>- The record can live next to other TXT records.
- DNS changes can take a few minutes to show up. If the check fails, wait and click Check now again.
File over HTTPS
Useful when you cannot change the DNS, for example on run.app or herokuapp.com. Serve the value as the content of this file:
https://api.acme.com/.well-known/grostify-connect.txtgrostify-connect-verification=<your token>The file must:
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| Status | HTTP 200, without redirects |
| Port | 443, even if your API uses 8443 |
| Size | Up to 1,024 bytes |
| Time | Answer within 5 seconds |
What verification unlocks
Once verified, the page says: "Connect can now call api.acme.com, and only that host."
- The final slug and the MCP address.
- Test calls and enabling tools in channels.
- Importing your spec from a URL.
- The OAuth callback URL and the keys page for API key mode.
You can import from a file, create tools and write descriptions before verifying.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| "Not verified yet" | The record or the file is not visible yet. DNS can take a few minutes. |
| The record exists but fails | The name must include the full API host, for example _grostify-connect.api.acme.com, not just the root domain. |
| The file exists but fails | It must answer 200 directly, without redirecting to another URL, and within 5 seconds. |
