WhatsApp assistant

An assistant on your company's WhatsApp number that answers your customers with data from your API, each one with their own access.

On this page

The assistant answers on your number when a customer writes a keyword, for example "assistant how much do I owe?". It uses the tools you enabled for WhatsApp, with the credential of that customer in your system. Everything else keeps arriving in your team's inbox.

Turn it on

Open the WhatsApp step of your integration. Before turning it on you need:

  • The integration live.
  • The domain verified.
  • A number of this account, registered in the WhatsApp Cloud API and not used by another integration.
  • At least one tool enabled in the WhatsApp channel.

Only owners and admins can change these settings.

SettingNotes
NumberOne integration per number.
KeywordOne word of 2 to 20 letters, without spaces, digits or symbols. Capitals and accents do not matter. Default asistente.
ModelThe Claude model that answers.
Notes for the assistantTone and glossary of your company, up to 1,000 characters. They never change the assistant's rules.
Assistant onTurning it off closes the open sessions. The inbox keeps working.

Some words cannot be the keyword because they are reserved: stop, cancel, end, quit, salir, baja, desvincular and similar.

How a conversation works

  1. A message that starts with the keyword opens a session. The keyword can carry the question, or come alone and the assistant asks what they want to look up.
  2. While the session is open, the customer writes without the keyword.
  3. The session closes after 15 minutes without messages, when the customer writes salir, or when someone on your team replies.

When your team replies, from the Connect inbox or from the WhatsApp Business app on the phone, the assistant steps aside right away and does not answer that turn.

The assistant answers in the language the customer writes in, in up to 4,000 characters. Links that are not on your verified domain are removed from its answers.

The first time, the assistant needs to know who is writing. It sends a link to connect the WhatsApp number with that customer's account in your system:

  1. The customer writes the keyword. The assistant replies with a link that expires in 10 minutes.
  2. On the link page they see your verified domain and the masked number, and click Continue.
  3. They sign in on your login page, or paste their personal API key, as in user authentication.
  4. Connect shows a 6 digit code that they send from that same number. It only works from that number.
LimitValue
Link requests3 per hour per number
Wrong codes5, then the link is cancelled
Link lifetime90 days

After that, the customer writes the keyword and their question. To unlink, they write the keyword followed by desvincular, for example asistente desvincular. While a session is open, desvincular alone is enough.

Important

Nobody from your company or Grostify asks for this code. The link page and the code page say so, and the assistant never asks for passwords, keys or codes.

Linked users

The Linked users table on the WhatsApp step shows each number (masked), the user, when they linked, the last use and when the link expires. Owners and admins can Revoke a link. The customer has to link again.

Models and cost

Grostify pays for the assistant's use of Claude, up to a monthly cap per integration.

ModelApproximate cost per questionGood for
Claude Haiku 4.5 (default)About 1.5 US centsDirect lookups
Claude Sonnet 5.5About 3 US centsQuestions that need several tools
Claude Opus 5.5About 5 to 6 US centsComplex questions

The cap is 10 USD per calendar month by default. Only Grostify can change it. The WhatsApp step shows what you used this month. When the cap is reached, the assistant answers with a limit notice until next month.

Each customer can ask up to 50 questions a day.

What is sent to Anthropic

The assistant uses Claude, by Anthropic. The customer's questions and the results of the tools are sent to Anthropic to answer them. Messages written by your team are never sent, and neither are credentials.

Note

For now, the automatic messages of the assistant (the link, the code confirmations and the limit notices) are in Spanish. Its answers follow the customer's language.
